THE WEEK THAT WAS (27-31/08/2012)

This week was dominated by coverage of the Republican National Convention. I provided analysis of all three days of the convention, including Chris Christie on Tuesday, Paul Ryan on Wednesday, and Condoleezza Rice and Mitt Romney on Thursday. I also looked at the issues behind the speeches, such as the GOP’s manipulation of racial politics, the conflict between the deficit hawks and the war hawks, and the tissue of lies that enveloped the whole convention. Factcheck.org took a look at these lies too, examining Paul Ryan’s speech in particular.

Israel remained an important issue in the campaign. This week, I wrote about how both parties’ fixation on the Florida vote is warping the national dialogue regarding Israel. And, I covered how the Republican Party platform has in fact altered very little on this subject.
