Today marks ten years since the commencement of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the beginning of the liberation of that country from the rule of Saddam Hussein. I will be posting my thoughts later today or perhaps tomorrow on my evolution from opposition to that conflict in 2004 when Fahrenheit 9/11 was released and I became politically conscious to a belief today that it is better that Saddam Hussein was removed then when we had the chance. For now, I offer this debate between Christopher Hitchens and Eric Alterman from June 2003, which best reflects the push and pull at that time between those who favoured intervention and liberation and those who supported the status quo.
